Within the Zangkejiang River, flowing through Liupanshui in Southwest China, a monster is purported to exist. The people of the region say the monster was responsible for sinking a cargo ship and killing its crewman. A witness reported the creature to be at least 8 meters long! Although social scientists contest reports of monsters change with the cultural tides, there could be some surviving prehistoric reptiles out there. Earlier descriptions of sea monsters looked more like sea horses; lately they have been described as more reptilian or dinosaur like. The crypto zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans thinks it may be an unknown species of a long necked seal but witnesses continue to report seeing the creature. Tourists still flock to the Okanagan Valley to catch a glimpse at the mysterious lake monster. Is there really a monster out there? Could it have actually sunk a cargo ship? I wonder, with so many people reporting a similar looking creature what else could it be? I doubt they’re mistaking a log for a serpent. If it is out there, and did sink that ship, I hope it was an accident.
